East Central Florida Childhood Obesity Consortium

Mission Statement:

To ensure children living in East Central Florida have healthy lifestyles that eliminate their risk for childhood obesity.

Consortium Goal:

Prevent childhood obesity through collaborative community action that fosters necessary social change in the East Central Florida Region.

Consortium Objectives

  • Design a web-based networking/communication portal that will provide access to community resources, research, and data related to the prevention and treatment of childhood obesity.
  • Disseminate a consistent social marketing message that provides daily dietary serving information and lifestyle modifications conducive to nutritional and physical well-being goals.
  • Promote collaboration among stakeholders in order to advance community initiatives that are targeted to prevent or reduce childhood obesity.
  • Foster connections to all community sectors to identify and address needed policy changes that will support a multi-level educational campaign.
  • Develop a broad base of funders to sustain consortium efforts in the long term.
  • Track measureable outcomes to assess program/project effectiveness in order to define best practices.
